NDPHC Launches Restoration of 225MW Gbarain Power Plant

The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) has commenced the restoration of the 225MW Gbarain power plant, which suffered significant damage from a fire in November 2020, leading to its shutdown. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engr.

Jennifer Adighij, led the management team in issuing a notice to formally hand over the project site to the contractor. Engr.

Abdullahi Kassim, the Executive Director General, and senior management officials were also present. The restoration work is expected to be completed within 12 months, following the resolution of technical and contractual bottlenecks.

Adighij commended the project team for their resilience and dedication, urging the contractor to collaborate with stakeholders throughout the implementation period. The restoration of the Gbarain plant is part of NDPHC's broader strategy to maximize existing assets and improve electricity supply across Nigeria, supporting industrial growth and enhancing energy security.
