NECO Registrar Wushishi Elected AEAA Vice-President

Prof. Dantani Wushishi, the Registrar of the National Examinations Council (NECO), has been elected as the Vice-President of the Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA).

This decision was made during the AEAA General Assembly at the 42nd Conference held in Arusha, Tanzania. Additionally, NECO has been awarded the rights to host the 2027 AEAA Conference from August 16 to 20, 2027, in Abuja, Nigeria.

These developments signify Nigeria's increasing recognition in educational assessment, particularly in the context of digital transformation and artificial intelligence integration. Since his appointment as NECO Registrar in 2021, Prof.

Wushishi has implemented various reforms to modernize examination administration and expand NECO's international presence, with examinations now conducted in eight foreign countries. His reappointment by President Bola Tinubu earlier this year was seen as an endorsement of his reforms, and the upcoming conference will provide a platform to showcase these advancements to policymakers and education experts across Africa.
