NECO's Wushishi Elected AEAA Vice-President; 2027 Conference

Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the Registrar and Chief Executive of the National Examinations Council (NECO), has been elected as the Vice-President of the Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA).

This election occurred during the 42nd Conference of the AEAA in Arusha, Tanzania, where NECO was also awarded the rights to host the 2027 AEAA Conference from August 16 to 20, 2027, in Abuja, Nigeria. The decisions were confirmed by the AEAA General Assembly and reflect Nigeria's increasing influence in educational assessment, particularly in light of digital transformation and artificial intelligence integration.

Since his appointment as NECO Registrar in 2021, Wushishi has implemented significant reforms aimed at modernizing examination administration and expanding NECO's technological infrastructure, with examinations now conducted in eight foreign countries. His reappointment by President Bola Tinubu earlier this year was seen as an endorsement of his reforms, further solidifying Nigeria's position in the educational assessment landscape in Africa.
