NECO's Tech Reforms Enhance Exam Integrity, Says Minister

Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, praised the National Examinations Council (NECO) for its effective use of technology, especially its transition to Computer-Based Examinations (CBE), during a meeting with the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPPS) and other stakeholders. He acknowledged the leadership of NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, for transforming the examination body, stating that NECO is now better equipped to conduct credible exams.

Alausa emphasized the importance of NECO's rapid adoption of technology in combating examination malpractice, which he described as a significant threat to Nigeria's education system. He noted that before the current administration, examination questions could be purchased for as little as N3,000, highlighting the severity of the issue.

The Federal Government supports Wushishi's continued leadership based on performance, not patronage, as NECO implements broader digital transformations, including online registration and automated grading, to enhance examination security and efficiency.
