NELFUND Urges North Central Students to Access Loan Scheme

Dr. Akintunde Sawyerr, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), encouraged tertiary students from the North Central geo-political zone to take advantage of the N303 billion disbursement for educational loans approved by President Bola Tinubu.

During the “Renewed Hope Student Leaders Engagement and Digital Acceleration programme” at the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State, Sawyerr noted that approximately 850,000 citizens have benefited from the Federal Government’s student loan scheme, which has received over one million applications. He emphasized that for the first time, the financial burden of education has been alleviated for parents and students, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder educational opportunities.

Sawyerr assured students that the loan application process is digital and accessible without needing personal connections. The Minister of Education, represented by Dr.

Kareem Lateef, reiterated the administration's commitment to investing in students for future leadership and innovation.
