NEMA Reaffirms Commitment to Transparency and Equity

Zubaida Umar, the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), reaffirmed the agency's commitment to the Federal Character principle during an interactive session at the Federal Character Commission (FCC) headquarters in Abuja. This engagement involved FCC Chairman Hulayat Omidiran and other commissioners, aimed at familiarizing chief executives of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) with the Commission’s procedures and expectations.

Umar expressed gratitude for the opportunity to enhance collaboration and assured that NEMA would uphold transparency, fairness, and due process in its operations. Commissioner Pam Botmang commended Umar for her transparent leadership and advocated for ongoing interactive sessions to foster collaboration between NEMA and the FCC.

The FCC is constitutionally tasked with promoting fairness and equity in public office distribution across Nigeria, ensuring compliance with the Federal Character principle to support inclusiveness and national unity. NEMA, responsible for coordinating disaster management and emergency response, is expected to adhere to these guidelines in its recruitment and administrative processes.
