NEMSA and LASERC Unite to Enhance Nigeria's Electricity Safety

The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) and the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC) have established a strategic alliance to strengthen electricity safety and technical standards across Nigeria. This collaboration was formalized during a visit by LASERC's Managing Director and CEO, Mr.

Temitop Georg, to NEMSA's corporate headquarters in Abuja, where he met with NEMSA's Managing Director and CEO, Engr. Olusegun M.

Adesayo. Engr.

Adesayo emphasized the significance of the Electricity Act 2023, which expands the role of state regulators and drives market development. The partnership aims to improve compliance with technical regulations, enhance investor confidence, and safeguard lives and infrastructure nationwide.

Mr. Georg noted that despite Lagos State contributing nearly 30% to Nigeria's GDP and housing 20 million people, it faces significant electricity supply challenges.

The alliance will prioritize consumer protection and engage grassroots communities, including launching public enlightenment campaigns to educate citizens about electricity theft and safety compliance.
