NEMSA and LASERC Partner to Enhance Electrical Safety

The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) and the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC) have forged a partnership to improve electrical safety and technical standards in Nigeria. This agreement was formalized during a visit by LASERC's Managing Director, Mr.

Temitop Georg, to NEMSA's corporate headquarters in Abuja. Engr.

Olusegun M. Adesayo, NEMSA's Chief Electrical Inspector, described the visit as timely, coinciding with the ongoing transformation of Nigeria's electricity sector following the enactment of the Electricity Act 2023.

The partnership aims to strengthen institutional collaboration, exchange technical expertise, and develop a practical framework for enforcing electrical safety standards. It also seeks to enhance compliance monitoring and build capacity to protect consumers.

Mr. Georg emphasized the importance of this strategic partnership in establishing a commercially viable and sustainable electricity market in Lagos State, especially with the recent signing of the Lagos State Electricity Law 2024 by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
