Nepal Issues Arrest Warrant for Ex-PM Sher Bahadur Deuba

The Nepali authorities have issued an arrest warrant for former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, aged 79, as part of a corruption investigation. Deuba, who is currently receiving medical treatment abroad, has rejected the allegations, labeling them as false propaganda aimed at damaging his family's reputation.

The warrant was issued following a request from the Department of Money Laundering Investigation. His wife, Arzu Rana Deuba, a former Foreign Minister, is also implicated in the case.

The investigation is linked to allegations of money laundering and corruption, with reports indicating that cash was allegedly discovered at Deuba's properties. The Nepali media has reported that the couple is currently in Singapore, where they have sought an Interpol notice.

This development follows a broader crackdown on corruption in Nepal, which has seen other political figures, including former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, facing similar scrutiny amid public protests against corruption.
