NERD Surpasses 400,000 Academic Submissions in Nigeria

The Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 400,000 digitized academic submissions, with its National Credential Verification Service (NCVS) processing over 115,000 academic credentials. As of September 2026, the repository has enrolled 907 tertiary institutions, of which 629 are currently active.

This initiative aims to create a central digital ecosystem for academic research, credentials, and institutional knowledge. The repository includes more than 410,000 theses, dissertations, and student projects, with undergraduate research making up the majority of submissions.

The participating institutions consist of 259 universities, 163 polytechnics, 179 monotechnics, and 178 colleges of education. Notable contributors include the University of Benin, Ahmadu Bello University, and several polytechnics.

The data indicates that undergraduate submissions total 409,456, while postgraduate submissions are only 1,563. Gender distribution shows 228,347 works from female students and 181,536 from male students, with the largest contributor age group being 25 to 29 years.
