Nigerian Commodore Omatsey Nesiama Makes History as First Referee for World Athletics Relays

Commodore Omatsey Nesiama, a respected figure in Nigerian athletics, has been appointed as the first Nigerian referee for the World Athletics Relays scheduled to take place in Gaborone in May 2026. Nesiama's expertise and professionalism have been recognized by World Athletics, emphasizing his ability to uphold fairness and technical excellence in the athletic community.

Nesiama, who previously served as a referee at the 2024 African Games in Accra, Ghana, and as a technical director for the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), currently holds the position of Chairman of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Technical Development Commission. His contributions to the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Technical Competitions Commission have been instrumental in setting standards for athletic competitions across the continent.

Nesiama's extensive experience as a sports management consultant, technical delegate, and certified lecturer further solidify his reputation as a key figure in Nigerian and African athletics.
