NESREA Investigates Chemical Spill on Kaduna-Abuja Highway

The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has initiated an investigation into a suspected chemical spill on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway, which has led to the appearance of a white, foamy substance. Nwamaka Ejiofor, NESREA’s assistant press director, announced on Tuesday that a team from the NESREA Kaduna State Field Office, headed by State Coordinator Hena Dangari Emmanuel, visited the site as part of the ongoing investigation.

Preliminary findings suggest that a heavy-duty truck was involved in an accident that caused the spillage. To support the investigation, NESREA has gathered information from relevant officials and local residents.

Additionally, samples of the foamy substance, as well as soil and water from a nearby stream, have been collected for laboratory analysis. Ejiofor has advised the public to refrain from contacting the foamy substance, the water, and the surrounding soil until the investigation concludes to prevent potential exposure to hazardous materials.
