NESREA and ACReSAL Collaborate for Environmental Protection

The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has called for stronger collaboration with the Taraba State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) to improve environmental protection and sustainable development in Taraba State. During a courtesy visit to ACReSAL's office in Jalingo, NESREA's Taraba State Coordinator, Mr Oteikwu John, expressed the need for effective collaboration and data sharing to achieve their mandates.

Established in 2007, NESREA enforces environmental laws and implements international environmental conventions. John highlighted the agency's operations in Taraba State since 2017 and its focus on protecting the environment.

In response, ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Dr. Yakubu Giwa Clement, welcomed the partnership and clarified that ACReSAL is a multi-sectoral project focused on environmental restoration, watershed management, and climate resilience, rather than just fund distribution.

He noted ACReSAL's interventions in three micro catchments and plans to expand to ten more, emphasizing the importance of watershed management in combating climate change.
