July 2026 Cooking Gas Prices: Lagos Lowest, Kano Highest

In July 2026, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) reported that liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices varied significantly across major Nigerian cities. Lagos had the lowest average retail price at N1,325 per kilogramme, while Kano, Sokoto, and Enugu recorded the highest prices at N1,650 per kilogramme.

The average prices in Kano and Enugu were N1,550 per kilogramme, while Ibadan's average was N1,540 per kilogramme. Despite a 4% increase in total LPG receipts, driven by a 22% rise in domestic production, LPG imports fell by 40%.

The total daily LPG supply reached 5.332 kilotonnes, with the largest share coming from NLNG/SEPNU vessel deliveries. Consumption also increased by 7%, leading to a national LPG stock sufficiency of only 16.3 days, significantly below the NMDPRA's 30-day minimum threshold.

This situation indicates that while domestic production is improving, rising consumption and uneven distribution may continue to impact cooking gas prices.
