Nigeria's LPG Supply Surges, Prices Drop 30% in July 2026

In July 2026, Nigeria's Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) market experienced a notable recovery, with total daily supply rising to 5.332 kilotonnes per day from 5.164 KT/D in June. Domestic production increased, contributing 4.373 KT/D (82.0% of total supply), while imports accounted for 0.958 KT/D (18.0%).
The NLNG/Seplat consortium led the market with 2.031 KT/D (38.1%), followed by Dangote Refinery with 0.829 KT/D (15.5%). Daily consumption was recorded at 4.4 KT/D, indicating demand has surpassed the 3.9 KT/D benchmark for two consecutive months.
Retail prices dropped nearly 30%, with Lagos prices falling from N1,776/kg to N1,235/kg. The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ekperikpe Ekpo, had directed marketers to increase imports and convened an emergency stakeholders’ meeting to stabilize the market.
The national LPG supply sufficiency improved from approximately 11 days to 22 days. Despite this progress, domestic supply had previously declined by about 10% month-on-month in June 2026, highlighting ongoing volatility in the market.
