New Horizons, eHealth Africa, Donate Vaccine Carriers For Immunisation In Borno

New Horizons Global Health Labs, in collaboration with eHealth Africa, donated Indigo Vaccine Carriers to the Borno State Primary Health Care Development Board (BoSPHCDB) to improve vaccine delivery in remote communities. The commissioning ceremony in Maiduguri saw the handover of 110 Indigo units and 25 PQS units, along with multiple charging stations, to be deployed across 61 health facilities in nine local government areas.

The Indigo Vaccine Carrier, which can maintain vaccines for five days without ice or electricity, aims to reduce wastage and enable delivery in challenging terrains. John Beale of New Horizons highlighted the carrier's flexibility, emphasizing its ability to keep vaccines potent even in unpredictable conditions.

The donation is expected to have a measurable impact, with facilities using Indigo reportedly cutting transport costs by 50% and reaching almost twice as many children. BoSPHCDB Executive Secretary Mohammed Arab Alhaji expressed the state's commitment to scaling up this innovative technology to ensure.
