New Osu Ajiri Eko Faces Challenges in Nasarawa State

On April 15, 2026, Alhaji Suleiman Ahm Eko was announced as the 4th Osu Ajiri of the Edegy Chiefdom in Nasarawa State, succeeding Alhaji Halilu Bala Usman, who passed away on May 25, 2025. Eko, born on June 2, 1972, in Agbazo, Udeg Development Area, is expected to address the significant challenges facing the chiefdom, including mutual distrust among the Eloyi Afo people following violent clashes and ongoing farmer-herder conflicts.

His immediate tasks include unifying the community and engaging with mining companies to transform hostile relationships into beneficial partnerships. Eko's leadership will also focus on cultural rebalancing and revitalizing local heritage through initiatives like the OCDA and AHTTI.

The new monarch's success will depend on his ability to foster honest dialogue and navigate the complex interests of various stakeholders while addressing the pressing security concerns that have plagued the region.
