NGF Supports Creation of 4 New Army Divisions

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has endorsed President Bola Tinubu's approval for the establishment of four new divisions within the Nigerian Army, describing this initiative as a significant enhancement to the country's security framework. The statement, signed by NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, emphasized that this simultaneous creation represents the largest single expansion of the Nigerian Army in modern history.

The governors expressed that this decision reflects the President's commitment to safeguarding lives and property nationwide. Additionally, the NGF welcomed the recruitment of 28,000 new military personnel and the acquisition of more military equipment, asserting that these measures would bolster efforts against terrorism and banditry.

The forum pledged ongoing collaboration with the Federal Government on security and national development issues. The new divisional headquarters will be located in Makurdi, Ilorin, Jalingo, and Benin City, with implementation expected to occur in two phases between September and December 2026.
