NGF Launches State Procurement Forum to Boost Transparency

The Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) inaugurated a forum for Directors-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday at the NGF Secretariat in Abuja. Abdulallateef Shittu, the NGF Director-General, highlighted the critical role of public procurement in budget implementation and government project delivery.

He urged forum members to maintain professionalism, transparency, and efficiency. Adebowale Adedokun, the federal BPP Director-General, noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu supports the initiative, which aligns with his Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at improving living standards and reducing poverty.

Adedokun described the inauguration as a significant milestone in Nigeria's procurement history, emphasizing that a transparent procurement system could attract foreign direct investment and stimulate domestic industry growth. Dr. Osahanze Idahosa, representing ADSC and DDI, commended Adedokun for fostering collaboration in procurement reform and urged the new leadership to enhance accountability and efficiency in public procurement across states.
