Northern Governors Launch Security Trust Fund in Kaduna

The Northern State Governors Forum (NSGF) inaugurated a Security Trust Fund in Kaduna, with Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State as the chairman. The fund aims to address the growing insecurity in Northern Nigeria, including issues like banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and drug abuse.

Governor Yahaya urged member states to fulfill their pledge of contributing 1 billion naira monthly for 12 months to support security operations. He emphasized that the fund should not become a bureaucratic institution but remain result-oriented, focusing on improving intelligence sharing and rapid response to security threats.

The governors expressed support for President Bola Tinubu's efforts to restore peace and security nationwide and discussed the importance of tackling the root causes of insecurity, such as poverty and unemployment. They called for stronger collaboration among governments, traditional institutions, and security agencies to promote peace and coexistence in the region.
