NHS Launches World's First Gonorrhoea Vaccine to Combat Rising Cases in England

The NHS in England has introduced the world's first gonorrhoea vaccine program, repurposing an existing meningitis B vaccine with a 30-40% effectiveness against gonorrhoea. The initiative targets high-risk groups such as bisexual men with multiple partners and a history of STIs.

With England recording 85,000 gonorrhoea cases in 2023, the vaccine will be offered at clinicians' discretion. Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales are also developing similar initiatives.
