AIG Olaiya Leads Rescue Operation for Abducted Victims

Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Victor Olaiya, in charge of Zone 7, has arrived in Minna, Niger State, to lead tactical teams and security assets for the rescue of individuals abducted in the state the previous week. This operation was ordered by Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu, following directives from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Niger State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, announced this during a briefing, stating that the real rescue operation commenced on Thursday. The operation will involve collaboration with other security agencies to ensure the safe rescue of the victims.

Tactical teams, a counter-terrorism unit, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit have been deployed for effective operations. The commissioner noted that the exact number of abducted individuals is still being confirmed as families are compiling records of missing members.

Niger State Commissioner for Homeland Security, Maurice Bello Magaji, emphasized the government's commitment to supporting security agencies in addressing security challenges.
