Tinubu Commends Rescue of 308 Abductees in Nigeria

On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu welcomed the successful rescue of 308 individuals who had been abducted in separate incidents in Kwara and Niger states. This operation is noted as the largest single-day rescue mission conducted by Nigeria’s security agencies.

According to a statement from Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, 163 victims were rescued from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, while 145 others were taken from a separate attack in Niger State. The rescue operation occurred in the Kainji Lake National Park forest in New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger State and involved a coordinated effort by the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, the Armed Forces, the Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Police Force.

The rescued individuals are currently receiving medical attention at Wawa Cantonment and will be returned to their respective state governments for further care. Tinubu emphasized the need to strengthen security measures to prevent future abductions and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ensuring the safety of vulnerable communities.
