Niger State Assembly Suspends Sitting Over APC Crisis

Members of the Niger State Assembly suspended their sitting on Tuesday due to political crises stemming from the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections. The assembly, which includes 27 members and is led by Deputy Speaker Mr.

Affiniki Dauda, faced backlash as some members did not receive tickets to contest in the 2027 elections. Legislators blamed their defeat on Governor Umar Bago, who allegedly assured them of support but failed to deliver.

Alhaji Moham Abubakar Kabir, representing Chanchaga local government, announced the suspension of plenary until unresolved issues with the executive are addressed. He emphasized that the assembly would not tolerate the executive's neglect of pressing matters, stating that it sends a negative signal to the public.

The motion to suspend was seconded by Alhaji Abdulrahman Gambo, representing Borgu constituency.
