Niger State Advances Women's Economic Empowerment Initiatives

The Niger State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, led by Hadiza Idri Kuta, is intensifying efforts to improve women's economic engagement through a series of workshops involving vice chairpersons from 25 local government areas. The initiative aims to ensure that women across the state benefit from inclusive policies that address economic challenges.

Kuta highlighted the importance of grassroots engagement to understand the needs and aspirations of women in both rural and urban communities. She stressed the necessity of expanding awareness campaigns and providing capacity-building opportunities, particularly for women in rural areas, to enhance their livelihoods and promote economic independence.

The ministry is collaborating with the Nigeria Governor Forum and consulting with Professor Funmilayo Banjo to adapt national policies to meet the specific needs of women in Niger State. Christiana Alkali, vice chairperson of Munya Local Government Area, praised the current administration for prioritizing women's inclusion and empowerment, describing the domestic women's economic empowerment policy as a significant step toward addressing challenges and creating opportunities for women throughout Niger State.
