Seven Boko Haram Suspects Arrested After Hajj Return

On an ordinary day at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina, seven men were discreetly arrested by border control officers after returning from the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage. These men were identified as suspected commanders of Boko Haram and ISWAP.

They were escorted under heavy security to custody and later flown to Abuja, where they were handed over to the State Security Service (SSS). Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the arrests, which highlighted Nigeria's advancements in digital border management and biometric identity verification.

However, the identities of the suspects and any criminal charges against them have not been disclosed. A critical question raised by this operation is how these individuals managed to leave Nigeria in the first place, as they traveled using valid Nigerian international passports and completed all official Hajj travel procedures.
