Team Nigeria Coach Confident Ahead of Commonwealth Games

Solomon Aliyu, the coach of Team Nigeria, is optimistic about the country's athletes' performance at the upcoming Commonwealth Games scheduled to take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2, 2026. Following the Athletics Federation of Nigeria's trials, Aliyu noted that 29 athletes have been invited to a national camp, expressing confidence that Team Nigeria will improve upon its previous performances.

He described the trials as a successful first phase of preparation and highlighted the potential of emerging talents such as Miracl Ezechukwu, Chidera Ezeakor, and Chigozi Rosemari. Aliyu acknowledged the contributions of personal coaches in developing the athletes and emphasized the need for continued support from the Athletics Federation of Nigeria and the National Sports Commission to nurture and maximize the athletes' potential on a global stage.

He concluded by stressing the importance of maintaining momentum to achieve impressive results.
