Nigeria Bids to Host 2028 Esports Nations Cup

Nigeria has officially submitted a bid to host the 2028 Esports Nations Cup (ENC), a prestigious international esports tournament. The bid is spearheaded by the Esports Federation Nigeria (EFN), with President Yahaya Maikori and Bid Committee Chairman Ikechukwu Okoy at the forefront.

The initiative aims to leverage Nigeria's youthful population and rapidly expanding digital economy to create job opportunities and boost tourism. Ifeanyi Elumeziem, EFN's Director of Communications, emphasized that the bid transcends sports, focusing on technology and youth empowerment.

The ENC is set to debut in Riyadh in 2026, featuring 2,000 players from 100 countries competing across 16 major game titles. Nigeria's bid reflects confidence in its infrastructure and talent, aiming to set new standards for esports in Africa.

The event is expected to attract thousands of international visitors and generate significant economic value, creating thousands of jobs and impacting various sectors, including tourism and technology.
