Bayelsa Governor Supports Miss World Nigeria 2026

On Tuesday, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State stated that Nigeria has the potential to produce another Miss World, following a courtesy visit from Tamunosoy Karibi Georg, the Miss World Nigeria 2026 contestant. Diri praised Georg for making the state proud and assured that his administration would support her bid in the upcoming Miss World competition in Vietnam.

He highlighted the significance of her representation, noting that she embodies the beauty and intellect of the Ijaw people and the Niger Delta region. Diri emphasized that Georg's participation is not just about beauty but also about showcasing cultural heritage and promoting education, particularly for children with special needs.

Jonathan Lokpobiri, president of the Ijaw Youth Council, accompanied Georg during the visit, reinforcing the community's support for her efforts. Diri's remarks also addressed social media discussions regarding Georg's origins, affirming her identity as a proud daughter of Bayelsa and Nigeria.
