Senator Buba Denies Allegations of Banditry Links

Shehu Buba, the Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District and a former chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, has publicly denied allegations connecting him to banditry. These allegations have circulated since 2024, intensified by videos from content creator D English Alhaji, which purportedly show suspected bandit leaders visiting Buba's residence.

A man named Hassan accused Buba of supporting bandits, claiming individuals linked to wanted bandit leader Dogo Gide were trained in Abuja through an aide associated with Buba. In a statement issued on Sunday, Buba categorically rejected these claims, asserting that he has no aide by the name mentioned and invited security agencies to investigate.

He criticized the reliance on viral videos as evidence and stated that sustainable security requires building trust within vulnerable communities. Buba emphasized the distinction between legitimate scrutiny and character assassination, asserting that political disagreements should not lead to unfounded accusations.
