On the sidelines of the El-Alamein International Airshow (EIAS 2026) in Egypt, Festus Keyamo, Nigeria's Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, held a bilateral meeting with Sameh El-Hefny, the Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation. The discussions focused on enhancing air connectivity between Nigeria and Egypt, aiming to deepen cooperation between their civil aviation authorities and strengthen technical and professional capacity development.

Keyamo emphasized the strategic importance of Nigeria-Egypt aviation relations and Nigeria's commitment to expanding international partnerships to improve connectivity, stimulate tourism and trade, and support airline growth. He urged EgyptAir to modernize its fleet on Nigerian routes by introducing newer-generation aircraft.

The Nigerian delegation expressed readiness to collaborate with the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation, particularly within the framework of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM). Dr. El-Hefny welcomed the engagement and stressed the importance of institutional cooperation between AFCAC and LACA to enhance partnerships among African and Arab states.

Both ministers committed to ongoing dialogue and cooperation.
