Nigeria and Egypt Qualify for 2026 ITTF Youth Champs

Nigeria and Egypt have qualified for the 2026 ITTF World Youth Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, following their victories in the team events at the Africa Youth Championships held in Accra. Egypt's U-15 boys and girls teams, along with its U-19 girls’ squad, will represent Africa at the global tournament scheduled for November 21–28.

Additionally, Nigeria's U-19 boys’ team will also represent the continent, completing Africa's representation at this prestigious event. Alfred Bagueka, the ITTF Africa Deputy President, expressed satisfaction with the competitive level of play observed in Accra, noting the increased participation and improvement among teams, particularly from lesser-known sides.

He acknowledged the progress made by African players but emphasized the need for further development to enhance their global standing, referencing the past successes of players like Omar Assar and Quadri Aruna. Bagueka expressed hope that the emerging young talents could achieve significant breakthroughs on the world stage.
