Nigeria Establishes First Local World Rugby Educators

Nigeria has created its first local World Rugby educators, marking a significant development in the country's rugby coaching and refereeing structures. This initiative, announced during a technical development program organized by the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) in Abuja, aims to reduce the country's reliance on foreign educators for technical programs.

Robert Bwari, World Rugby East and Southern Africa Game Growth Manager, expressed satisfaction with Nigeria's progress, stating that local educators can now train coaches and referees. The three-day program covered coaching, match officiating, first aid in rugby, and safeguarding, attracting about 80 participants.

NRFF president Ademola Are encouraged participants to share their knowledge within their communities, emphasizing the importance of local involvement in rugby's growth. Wuraola Hussain, a board member and World Rugby-certified instructor, noted that the program would lay a solid technical foundation for rugby in Nigeria, aiming to enhance the sport's competitiveness both continentally and globally.
