Sanwo-Olu and Olurode Honor Jakande's Leadership Legacy

At the 4th Lateef Jakande Memorial Lecture held at the Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, along with Professors Lai Olurode and Sylvester Akhaine, called for Nigerians, especially public officeholders, to emulate the late former Governor of Lagos State, Lateef Jakande. They praised Jakande's legacy of selfless service, integrity, and people-centered governance as exemplary for national development.

Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, noted that Jakande's achievements in various sectors, including education and healthcare, serve as enduring examples of purposeful leadership. Olurode emphasized Jakande's commitment to Nigeria, recalling that he never sought medical treatment abroad during his governorship, believing in Nigeria's potential.

The Nigerian Guild of Editors established the annual lecture series in 2023 to honor Jakande's ideals of ethical journalism and public service.
