Prof. Akhaine to Deliver 4th Lateef Jakande Lecture

Prof. Akhaine will deliver the 4th Lateef Jakande Lecture on November 11, 2023, at 11 AM, at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

The theme of the lecture is "Media, INEC, and Voter Path to Credible Elections." Akhaine, a former human rights activist and current chairman of the board of trustees at the Centre for Constitutional Democracy, holds a PhD in Politics from Royal Holloway, University of London, obtained in 2004. The lecture aims to honor the legacy of Alhaji Lateef Jakande, a distinguished journalist and former Lagos State governor.

Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti State, will serve as the chairman of the lecture, with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the special guest of honor.

The event is expected to attract media leaders, public officials, and civil society members, reflecting on the role of the press in nation-building. The Nigerian Guild of Editors, represented by Messrs.

Ez Anaba and Onuoha Ukeh, is organizing the lecture.
