Deputy Speaker Kalu Advocates for State Police Reform in Nigeria for Enhanced Security

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, emphasized the urgent need for state police in Nigeria to enhance security response. Kalu, speaking at the 55th Parliamentary Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, highlighted that Nigeria's current centralized policing system is inadequate and lags behind global standards.

He proposed the unbundling of the existing structure to allow for the creation of state police, aiming to improve response times and meet international policing standards. Kalu suggested introducing a state police bill in parliament to address the issue effectively and align with the desires of Nigerians for better security measures at the state level.
