Nigerian Armed Forces Intensify Fight Against Terrorism

Philip Agbese, the Deputy Spokesperson for the House of Representatives and a Labour Party lawmaker from Benue State, declared that the Nigerian Armed Forces have transitioned from rhetoric to action in combating terrorism and banditry. He emphasized recent military operations that have increased pressure on terrorist networks, citing the neutralization of 1,487 terrorists, the rescue of 777 kidnapped victims, and the arrest of 354 suspects during operations in July and August.

Agbese commended key military leaders, including Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, and Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for their strategic leadership. He noted that operations in the North-East and North-West, particularly under Operation Hadin Kai and Operation Fansan Yamma, have intensified against Boko Haram and other armed groups.

Agbese highlighted the importance of intelligence gathering, air strikes, and inter-agency coordination in disrupting terrorist activities.
