Nigeria's GIFSHIP Launches Affordable Health Insurance Plan

Ultimate Health HMO has launched GIFSHIP, a comprehensive health insurance program designed to improve access to quality healthcare in Nigeria. Priced at ₦38,718 per person per annum, GIFSHIP aims to address the challenges of inadequate funding and poor infrastructure in the Nigerian healthcare system.

Otunba Lekan Ewenla, the Managing Director and CEO of Ultimate Health HMO, emphasized the importance of shifting the focus from merely treating illnesses to creating a healthier nation. The program includes coverage for primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare services and is targeted at individuals, families, and corporate groups.

The launch aligns with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Act 2022, which mandates health insurance for all Nigerians. Ewenla highlighted that the GIFSHIP package is a strategic step towards universal health coverage, aiming to significantly increase enrollment and address past challenges, including arbitrary premium reductions and varying benefit packages.
