Nigeria and Saudi Arabia Discuss Housing Investment Partnership

The federal government of Nigeria has initiated discussions with Saudi Arabia to explore a partnership aimed at boosting housing investment and infrastructure development across Nigeria. The talks occurred on Wednesday when the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqha Rabe Darma, met with the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Nigeria, Yousef Bin Muhammad Al-Balawi, during a courtesy visit in Abuja.

They discussed potential areas of cooperation in housing development and infrastructure investment, as well as opportunities for Saudi developers to engage in Nigeria’s housing sector. The upcoming Riyadh Real Estate Future Forum, scheduled for January next year, was also on the agenda.

Minister Darma emphasized the necessity of international partnerships due to Nigeria's growing population and housing deficit, aligning with the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes affordable housing and infrastructure improvement. Ambassador Al-Balawi expressed Saudi Arabia's readiness to assist Nigeria in addressing its housing challenges, citing the Kingdom's success in large-scale residential projects through its National Housing Company.
