Nigeria Names Junior Swimmers for Africa Aquatics Championship

The Nigeria Aquatics Federation (NAqF) has unveiled a 15-member junior swimming team for the 2026 Africa Aquatics Zone 2 Junior Swimming Championship, set to take place in Dakar, Senegal, from August 28 to 30, 2026. Arinzechi Chukwunonso, the Media and Communication officer of NAqF, announced this on August 24, 2026.
The team consists of 11 female and 4 male swimmers, including India Brown, Omolola Akinsanmi, and Aidan Dumuje-Abili, among others. The championship is part of NAqF's structured preparation for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games, scheduled for October 30 to November 12.
The competition aims to provide the young athletes with international experience and allow the technical team to assess their strengths and areas for improvement. Christopher Ezemegwalu will serve as the coach for the team.
The swimmers will depart Nigeria in batches starting August 25. Following the Dakar championship, NAqF has planned additional competitions to ensure the athletes remain competitive and prepared for the Youth Olympic Games.
