Nigeria and US Eliminate 175 ISIS/ISWAP Terrorists

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) of Nigeria reported that joint air interdictions conducted with the US Africa Command have resulted in the elimination of 175 terrorists affiliated with ISIS and ISWAP in North East Nigeria. Major General Samaila Uba, the director of defense information, confirmed that these airstrikes commenced a few days ago and have achieved significant operational success across multiple terrorist enclaves in the region.

The operations, assessed on May 19, 2026, have not only neutralized 175 ISIS fighters but also led to the destruction of ISIS checkpoints, weapon caches, and logistical hubs. Notably, several senior ISIS commanders were killed, including Abu Bilal al Minuki, who played a major role in coordinating external operations and financing for ISIS.

The DHQ emphasized its commitment to tracking down and eliminating terrorist threats within Nigeria, stating that joint operations will continue until all groups threatening national security are dismantled.
