Nigerian Army's 𝕏 Account Targeted in Cyberattack

On Saturday, the Nigerian Army raised an alarm regarding an attempted breach of its official 𝕏 account after unauthorized posts promoting memecoins were detected around 3:50 PM. Appolonia Anele, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed the military's awareness of the unauthorized access attempt and stated that immediate efforts were initiated to secure the account.

The Army activated both technical and protective measures to contain the incident and safeguard the integrity of information shared on the platform. Anele urged the public and media to refrain from relying on suspicious information from the compromised account until the situation is resolved.

She assured that appropriate measures were being taken to restore complete administrative control of the account. This incident follows a similar breach of the Defence Headquarters' official 𝕏 account just two weeks prior, highlighting ongoing cybersecurity challenges faced by military institutions.
