DHQ Alerts Public on Attempted Hack of Official X Account

On Saturday, the Nigerian Defence Headquarters (DHQ) raised an alarm regarding an attempted compromise of its official X (formerly Twitter) account. The statement, issued by the Director, Defence Information, Maj Gen Samaila Uba, urged the public to disregard any suspicious or misleading content that may appear during this period.

The DHQ is treating the incident as a cybersecurity issue and has activated appropriate technical measures to secure the account and prevent further unauthorized access. Maj Gen Uba assured the public that efforts are ongoing to fully restore control of the account.

The DHQ commended the public for its understanding and vigilance, pledging to provide further updates as necessary. Additionally, the statement encouraged the public to rely on other official channels such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp for accurate and timely information, emphasizing the DHQ's commitment to maintaining high standards of information security.
