Nigerian Army Clears Nigerien Herder of Terrorism Claims

The Nigerian Army has officially cleared Aboubakar Muhammad Zein-Nur, also known as Houdairi, of any terrorism-related allegations following thorough investigations. The statement was made by Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI.

Zein-Nur was initially taken into custody during an operation by the 68 Battalion after a terrorist attack in Cross Kauwa, Borno State, on 14 July 2026. Due to the security situation in the Lake Chad region, where terrorist groups exploit border corridors, he was detained as a precaution.

However, extensive intelligence assessments revealed that he has no ties to any terrorist organization and resides in Shattu Anguba Village in Bosso, Republic of Niger, where he is engaged in camel rearing. Following these findings, Operation HADIN KAI formally exonerated him from all terrorism-related suspicions, reaffirming their commitment to distinguishing innocent civilians from terrorist elements during military operations.
