Nigerian Banks File 92% of STRs in 2025, NFIU Reports

In 2025, the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) reported that Deposit Money Banks submitted 38,715 of the total 42,082 Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs), representing approximately 92% of all filings. The NFIU also received 41.7 million Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and 10,513 Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) during the same year.

The NFIU collaborates with various regulatory bodies to enhance compliance. Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) filed no STRs in the first half of 2025 but submitted 49 by year-end.
