Nigerian Government Disburses Compensation to Workers

The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) presented compensation cheques to beneficiaries under the Employees’ Compensation Scheme (ECS) in Abuja. Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the Head of the Civil Service, stated that this initiative strengthens social protection within the Federal Public Service.
The presentation, in collaboration with Mr Oluwaseun Faleye, Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), supports public servants affected by work-related injuries and other incidents. Walson-Jack emphasized that compensation is a statutory entitlement and highlighted the government's responsibility to support workers after workplace hazards.
She urged compliance with occupational health and safety standards and commended the NSITF for its efforts in translating the Employees’ Compensation Act into benefits for Federal Civil Servants. Walson-Jack also acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to workers' welfare under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The event marked the first presentation of compensation cheques to beneficiaries from Treasury-funded Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
