FG Launches Compensation Scheme for Civil Servants

The Federal Government of Nigeria has taken a significant step towards enhancing the welfare of Federal Civil Servants by presenting the first compensation cheques under the Employees’ Compensation Scheme (ECS) in Abuja. This initiative aims to support public servants affected by work-related injuries, occupational diseases, and disabilities.

Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to workers’ welfare as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

She emphasized that the compensation is a statutory entitlement and not an act of charity, highlighting the government's responsibility to support public servants facing workplace hazards. Mr.

Oluwaseun Mayomi Faleye, Managing Director/CEO of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), described the event as historic, marking the successful operationalization of the Employees’ Compensation Act. The OHCSF and NSITF have also initiated a Help Desk to facilitate awareness and claims processing for workplace incidents.
