Nigerian Government to Pay Civil Servants' Wage Awards

The Federal Government of Nigeria has committed to settling outstanding wage awards for public servants before the middle of August. This assurance was provided by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, during a meeting with labor leaders, including Comrade Kabiru Minjibir, the National President of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JPSNC).

Oyedele stated that the payment release for the wage awards is at its final stage and directed officials to expedite action on all outstanding matters. He acknowledged previous implementation delays and promised greater transparency and prompt action.

The Permanent Secretary of Finance, Mr. Raymond Omachi, and the Permanent Secretary for Special Duties, Mr. Mohammed Danjuma, also confirmed that promotion arrears and other labor-related issues are being addressed. The Director of Cash Management, Mrs. Christiana Osho, noted that reconciliation for the outstanding wage award has been completed.

Minjibir urged the government to resolve pending labor issues to enhance industrial harmony.
