Osun State Disburses Palliatives to Civil Servants

The Osun State Government has initiated another round of palliative payments to civil servants as part of its efforts to improve workers' welfare and mitigate the effects of current economic challenges. Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for Governor Ademola Adeleke, made the announcement via a statement on the state's X handle on Wednesday.

Rasheed emphasized that this intervention demonstrates the administration's dedication to supporting public servants, whom he described as the backbone of the government. He noted that the Adeleke administration had begun periodic palliative payments even before the implementation of the new minimum wage, positioning Osun as one of the first states in Nigeria to take such action.

The government contrasted its approach to workers' welfare with that of the previous administration, which it accused of depriving civil servants of their salaries and entitlements. The ongoing palliative payments are part of a broader agenda to restore confidence in public service, improve staff morale, attract competent personnel, and enhance service delivery in Osun State.
