Nigerian Navy Base Oguta Marks 70th Anniversary with Projects

On Tuesday, the Nigerian Navy Base Oguta in Imo State inaugurated multiple projects to mark its 70th anniversary. The projects included the renovation of 12 accommodation blocks, the revamp of four Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), and the installation of a 25kW solar power system for the administrative block.

Commodore S.T. Lengaya, the commander of the base, highlighted the significance of these developments in enhancing the living conditions of personnel and improving operational efficiency.

He noted that the solar power system would provide reliable energy, reduce operational costs, and ensure uninterrupted power supply for critical facilities. The ceremony also featured remarks from Vice Admiral Idi Abba, Chief of Naval Staff, and Hon.

Eugen Dibia, who commended the efforts of the naval personnel and emphasized the base's role in curtailing maritime crime in the area. The projects reflect the Nigerian Navy's commitment to evolving its capabilities in response to emerging maritime security challenges.
